Successful Home Based Business Tips

One of the surprising questions many of my customers ask is how have I set up my own little successful business. I usually expect questions about my jewelry but this question is asked regularly.

I'm loving having a home based business, and yes, I've never worked as hard before but I've never had such control over my daily life and my future. So here I'll share some of my experiences but also mainly resources I've found (tried and tested) really useful and valuable.

Need your website hosted at affordable rates with quality customer service? Yes, well then check out EziHosting and be impressed by the excellent value offered by this Australian based and owned business.

Use It - excellent info and tips for designing web sites that are really easy to use.

The main problem websites have is that they're difficult to use and people give up. Keep the usability of the site simple and the results will be excellent.

I'm also an experienced website designer and this site has been a constant resource for me for over six years. I highly recommend Use It.

PayPal - gives customers the ability to pay online in an excellent variety of currencies.

It is crucial to make payment as simple as possible and that's why I've setup a PayPal facility for Creatively Belle. This lets me have an international facility so no matter where a customer is in the world, they can easily do business with me.

I recommend a facility like this for any small business.

XE - Currency Converter tool.

Websites let you have an international audience so you need a facility so people can convert from your domestic currency to their domestic currency to see just how well priced your business is.

I found XE to be the best in ease of use (usability) and functionality.

This is a great book my accountant recommended to me. It is all about the logical business activities needed to grow a business based on systems.

I found it easy to read, logical, well structured and use its principles consistently. I think just about every bookshop with a business section will stock it.

The link here is to the E-Myth web site and it contains a host of excellent articles and facilities.

National Breast Cancer Foundation - research info, donations, research funding sources including Hallmark cards.

I'm using the NBCF as an example here. Every business is part of a community, a small local community, all the way up to an international community. It is important to recognise your involvement with the community and use your business to contribute.

You don't have to have big resources (or even small resources!) to contribute, just help by promoting a community based organisation, preferably one that means something special to you.
